It was a thrill to spend an afternoon at Cresswell Pele Tower, setting for much of ‘Star of the Sea’. Thanks to an inspirational comunity archeology project the once-derelict building has been superbly restored – .see here: www.cresswellpeletower.org.uk.. It was a pleasure to meet many of the wonderful visitors and volunteers – there was a lot of interest in the novel and in all things Cresswell. A return visit is planned for an evening talk at the Tower – watch this space!

Holydaying on Lindisfarne recently, I ‘found’ a copy of your book, Cuthbert of Farne in the cottage we rented. I have journeyed with the Celtic saints since I visit visited Bradwell, in Essex, and learned about the Celtic connection, at the age of 13, 65 years ago. Since then, first Iona, then Lindisfarne have become our very special places, and we visit them both annually if we are able, although at the ages of 81 and 78 (next week) we are anxious about how much longer we will be able to do this. I am looking forward to reading your other books, and would love to se what you might make of Columba!!!
Thank you Pam, and hope you enjoy the books
